Fireplace and Range Hood Finishes in Phoenix

About this finish

One Fireplace or Hood, Any of Our Finishes

A dated brick fireplace or a plain drywall range hood can be the one thing that ages an otherwise updated room. We refinish both with the same hand-applied plaster and limewash finishes we use on feature walls, limewash, Roman clay or Venetian plaster, so the fireplace or hood becomes the room's focal point instead of the thing you're trying to distract from.

Every fireplace and hood is its own small project: a different substrate (brick, stone, drywall, stucco), a different shape, and its own clearances around the firebox or the cooktop. We check the surface and the setup on site, then recommend the finish that suits the room, you don't have to arrive already knowing which one you want.

Because we apply every finish by hand, we can work around mantels, hearths, niches and the transition to surrounding walls cleanly, whether it's a single fireplace surround or a fireplace and a kitchen range hood finished to match.

Common questions

Fireplace & Range Hood FAQs

Which finish is best for a fireplace, limewash, Roman clay, or Venetian plaster?

It depends on the look you want. Limewash gives a soft, cloud-like mineral texture; Roman clay is a warm matte trowel finish; Venetian plaster can be burnished to a smooth, stone-like sheen. We bring samples of each to your home so you can see them in your own light before deciding.

Can you finish a plain drywall range hood?

Yes. We prep and apply directly to drywall range hoods as well as brick, stone and stucco fireplace surrounds.

Will the heat from my fireplace damage the finish?

Our finishes go on the surround and the decorative surfaces around the firebox, not inside it, and we follow standard clearances from the heat source. If anything about your setup needs a closer look first, we'll flag it before we quote.

Can you cover a dated brick fireplace without tearing it out?

Usually, yes. We check the brick and mortar on site; if it's sound, we can apply a finish directly over it instead of demolishing and rebuilding the surround.

Do you finish outdoor fireplaces too?

Yes, outdoor fireplaces and outdoor kitchens are one of the more popular exterior applications for limewash in the Phoenix heat.

Before We Quote Your Fireplace or Range Hood

A fireplace or range hood is a system, not just a finish. Here's what we check and explain before any quote goes out.

Substrate checkWe check your brick, stone, drywall or stucco on site before we quote. If it's sound, we can usually finish directly over it; if not, we'll tell you what needs to happen first.
Moisture and exposureFor an outdoor fireplace or a range hood that sees heavy kitchen steam, we look at what's protecting the substrate from moisture and call out any work it needs as its own line item.
Cure time before regular useWe'll give you the exact wait time before you should light the fireplace or run the range at full heat after we finish, so the schedule is clear, not a guess.
Cleaning and careLight soot or cooking residue can usually be wiped with a soft cloth and a pH-neutral cleaner, we'll walk you through care for your specific finish and location.
What a repair looks likeSmall scuffed or scorched areas can often be freshened up without redoing the whole surround. For real damage, we'll tell you honestly what that repair involves.
Warranty exclusionsWarranty terms come with your written quote, including what's excluded, for example heat damage from exceeding normal clearances, or damage from something else striking the surface.
